Giant 40-Pound Crumb Rescued From Dark Russian Basement

The cat Kroshik, who weighed 17 kilogrammes (38 pounds) when rescued from a Russian hospital’s basement, is making progress towards a full recovery after being apprehended while attempting to flee from his rehabilitation centre.

The feline’s owners left him at a hospital in Perm, where he was given crackers, soup, and meat until he was rescued.

Kroshik, which means “Crumb” in Russian, was crippled by his obesity.
The city’s Matroskin Centre was the destination of the ginger cat’s transport. Currently, he is following a diet and fitness regimen that will assist him in losing 70 to 150 grammes every week in his quest to regain a healthy weight.
It appears that Kroshik has not yet adjusted to his new residence. His escape from his cage was recently discovered by rehabilitation specialist Ekaterina Bedakova.

“When we discovered him dressed as slippers, he was very unhappy, but… after he had some food, he calmed down.”
As an attachment, Bedakova included a photo of the cat’s unsuccessful attempt to flee, which depicts him with his face rubbed against a pair of blue shoes while he is confined between the bars of a shoe rack. This action shows that Kroshik is making progress, says the expert.

We will inform you as soon as he makes a full recovery. Without a doubt, the infant will regain consciousness! An earlier post from the Mastorskin Centre appeared on Instagram.

According to PetMD, a healthy cat should be around 3.5 to 5 kilogrammes (8 to 12 pounds) in weight. The Maine Coon is an anomaly; it’s a big breed that can reach a healthy weight of nine or even twenty kilogrammes (20 pounds).

Cats run the danger of developing diabetes, urinary tract infections, and arthritic conditions when they are overweight. A shorter lifespan is also linked to it.

Kroshik is now relearning how to walk. A video showing Kroshik walking on a water treadmill was posted on September 6 by the Matroskin Centre.

The facility has stated that the pet will be required to participate in hydrotherapy and kinesiotherapy sessions three to four times weekly throughout its “long and thorough” rehabilitation.
